Somehow February 2017 is already here. It happens every year, I say I'm doing lots of January projects, and then they actually start happening in February. So now we are finally starting a few projects around the studio. First on the list is shiplap! If any of you watch HGTV, you probably know Joanna and Chip. They are my personal favorites. If you know them, you also know that shiplap is in every house they touch. Well I thought it was time we do some. So we are doing two short walls of the showroom in shiplap and then if we like it we might just add more. I decided on 8 inch width, and I pricing out if I should just cut my own rabbits, or buy them already cut. I contacted my friends at Tague Lumber for some ideas, so standby for decisions next week. I am going with a regular pine, or as it is known in the building industry as (no.2 pine) This pine has knot holes and imperfections, which is exactly what I want. I'll probably make some more marks with a chain or screw driver to keep it a bit rustic. I looked at rough sawn wood also, but decided it was too rough for this installation. After this project we will be getting some new furniture and rugs for the showroom to freshen up the look before spring. When spring comes around we get too busy with actual photography and put the projects on hold. We are looking forward to our first holy communion portraits that usually start up at the start of March. We also have our returning bunny portraits in April. So for now, we keep busy with new web site designs and lots of corporate head shots for all of our clients that realized this year would be a good time to update their own web sites and printed materials. Check back in a week for an update on my new favorite word... SHIPLAP
